about

In the few months following his move to East London in November 2008, Stuart extensively explored his new locality by foot. The winter months were spent walking, at all hours, around the E2 and E8 postcodes, where his new home sat on the border of. e walked through parks and housing estates, down alleyways and along the canals, he sat listening to the sounds of the city, watching the world go by, making recordings.

Over the spring of 2009 these recordings became the inspiration for a new body of musical works. A fresh collection of songs to document a new chapter in Stuart's life, a record of his memories of those places.

To celebrate the new Hybernation release on Cotton Goods, I have recorded a new Radio mix for Arctic Circle radio. The premise of the Circle Mix is to end up where you began, so I take you on a journey around the E2 & E8 postcodes of East London, taking in all the locations where I made the field recordings which inspired the tracks on the new album.

In walking the route (70 minutes) you also pass the houses of several other musicians that live in the neighbourhood, so some of their work has also been incorporated into the mix.
